Alen Kercmar

Representing: Murska Sobota Lutheran Church

Alen was born into a traditional Lutheran family in Slovenia.  In high school he sought a way to escape a broken and abusive family.  Drug addiction became a stark reality of his life.  In 1999 he wanted to take his life but God in His sovereignty intervened and gave him a new life instead.

He completed a two year diploma course at Belfast Bible College and plans to return in 2012 to complete a B.A. degree at the college.

Alen is a Partner in Ministry with ECM–Ireland and is involved in adult/student/youth ministry with Martin Luther church in Murska Sobota and particularly with developing new initiatives–ministries.  He was part of the team responsible for translating Christianity Explored into Slovene and is now helping in encouraging church leaders to use the material to reach out to people and introduce them to Jesus Christ.  He is passionate to see the local church spiritually renewed and become a strong witness in the community.

Due to his background spreading the Gospel among drug addicts and their families has also been an integral part of his ministry.

Alen is married to Lila and they have 3 children.
