Bishop Ken Clarke grew up in Holywood, Co. Down, Northern Ireland where the formative influences on his life were his local Parish Church, Scripture Union and a Bible Class Movement called Crusaders. He is married to Helen and they have four daughters, four son–in–laws and five adorable grandchildren.
Ken has served in parishes in Northern Ireland, in Chile with the South American Mission Society (SAMS), and in Crinken, Dublin. Before becoming Bishop of Kilmore Elphin and Ardagh in 2001 he was Rector of Coleraine Parish for 15 years. He has led missions and preached at Conferences and Conventions in different parts of the world. He was one of the speakers at Keswick Convention 2011. He is Patron of New Wine Ireland.
At the beginning of this year, on the 1st January 2013, he began a new ministry as Mission Director of SAMS UK and Ireland. He enjoys reading, sport, supporting Manchester United, walking, golf, and has a particular interest in church growth and leadership issues. He has contributed to several books and authored “Going for Growth” published by IVP.
