December 2023 Prayer Update
Welcome to the December mailer and our last prayer update of 2023. As we near the end of another year, we move closer to celebrating the birth of Jesus - “Joy to the World, the Lord is come - Let earth receive her King!” We want to thank you all for your support this year and wish you and your family a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
DR BILL WOODS
The committee of Bangor Worldwide were saddened to hear of the death of Dr Bill Woods. Shortly before his passing, we recorded an interview with him in which he reflected on his service in Brazil as a missionary doctor for over 60 years. This will be available in the near future but in the meantime here is a taste of things to come. We pray for his family at this time that they know God’s blessing and peace.
LANGHAM PARTNERSHIP
“Through Langham Preaching, I see God’s Word working in peoples’ lives.”
We were delighted to have Dr Chris Wright with us during the summer. Dr Wright is Global Ambassador and Ministry Director with Langham Partnership. For our summer magazine, they provided an insight into what their organisation is involved in as they work in South Asia.
SUPPORTER CHURCHES
We are grateful for those churches who have joined in partnership with us as ‘supporter churches’ to deepen their connection to our work all year round. We would welcome more so if your church would be interested in signing up, contact Lorraine via email (lorraine@bangorworldwide.org)
POINTS FOR PRAYER
FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING
This is a very busy time of year for our Treasurer, Cecil, and the other members of the committee involved in finance. They meet on Monday 4th December to consider the year-end accounts. Please pray that the preparations for this meeting will run smoothly and that the outcome will be an encouragement to many mission agencies as they benefit from this year's donations.
MAIN
COMMITTEE MEETING
The main committee meets on the 6th of this month. A significant part of the meeting will be given over to a review of the finances for 2023, but we will also be progressing plans for our Launch in May 2024 and the convention itself in August. Please pray that we will be inspired by the Holy Spirit in all the decisions we will make and that we will be continuously aware of His presence during our time together.
ISRAEL / GAZA
Please continue to pray about the situation in this troubled area, particularly the Christians from both Israeli and Palestinian backgrounds who are caught up in all the upheaval. Pray that they will inspired in their role as peacemakers. There are signs of progress. Pray that these will continue to develop and that soon there will be an end to all the violence.
LESLEY
STEWART
Our hard-working secretary had a mishap during a holiday in the UK when she slipped and broke a number of bones in her ankle. She is through surgery, which went well, but now faces a lengthy period of recuperation with her ankle in plaster. Please pray for Lesley as she deals with this change to her normal routine and that the healing would continue pain-free, without any complications or setbacks.
