FEBRUARY 2021Welcome to our monthly mailer with the latest news, an update on the 85th anniversary fundraising project and some direction for prayers that we would appreciate at this time
85 TRIATHLON
CHALLENGEDespite the cold days in January our budding athletes Jed, Joy and Tom have been busy working towards their ambitious ‘850’ targets to raise money for and awareness of the Persecuted Church. Jed has toddled 129 lengths of his garden, Joy has run 73 miles and Tom has walked 107 miles. You can find out more and support them financially here. If you would like to take up your own 85 themed challenge, let us know by email (chairman@worldwidemission.org).
ADRIAN ADGERIt is with sadness that we heard the news of the passing of Rev Adrian Adgar on 13th January. The Presbyterian minister and former Belfast City Mission worker featured in a series of videos sharing his hope despite facing terminal cancer and published books to help other cancer patients and their families. We remember his wife Karen in our prayers at this difficult time
ALL NATIONSAll Nations have released a promotional video about their work in training people for mission by coming together as a community of different cultures. They were one of many mission agencies that received a donation from Bangor Worldwide during 2020
Our plans for the launch have been thrown into confusion by the ever changing government restrictions associated with the covid pandemic. There are significant doubts as to whether our main speaker, Zack Eswine, will be able to travel from the USA so please pray for the committee that we will have clarity on the matter and be able to think through the implications of this
We had completed our plans for the evening meetings for this year and, as is normal, a number of our speakers are due to come from outside the UK. We are at present checking on the current position with each of them regarding travel and on the basis of the responses we receive, may have to do some reorganising. Please pray for the committee as it meets on the 10th February and tries to resolve the issues before us. We need wisdom from above to ensure that the decisions we make are in line with God’s will for the convention this year
LINKS WITH
CHRISTIAN UNIONS IRELAND (CUI)
On a positive note, Worldwide has for sometime sought to have closer links with the student world. We have recently been encouraged by contacts with CUI so please pray for Jason Brodie as he seeks to develop these and establish a connection with the CUI EQUIP conference which takes place at the same time as the convention each August
As you will understand from the above, these are challenging times for the committee. Thank you for standing with us in prayer and please feel free to spread the word to others who might like to join in. It is a most vital work.
