Gary Moore is the co–founder of LIFT. After returning from a works team to Guinea–Bissau in 1997 and after much prayer and discussion LIFT was formed in 1999.
Gary is a member of Eglinton Presbyterian Church in North Belfast. He is married to Karen and they have three grown up children. He has spent all of his working life in the construction trade and is excited to see how God can use ordinary trade’s people and handy enthusiasts to glorify God in a practical way in overseas mission. Not everyone is called to preach or teach, but it is a sin not to use your God given skills and talent to serve Him.
Our aims are to:
- Share the gospel of Jesus Christ in a practical way
- Encourage Missionaries
- Encourage local Christians
- Encourage our volunteers
- Encourage overseas mission in home churches
LIFT supplies the labour force, and often the technical know–how. Each volunteers pays his own way which includes all transport to and from the project, insurance and a donation towards the cost of accommodation and food. LIFT organises the entire project, all that volunteers need to do is show up and work hard to the glory of God. We ask the mission to supply our accommodation, food and the building materials for the work.
Our volunteers are able to see the practical work they carried out. What sometimes they do not see is the encouragement they give to the missionaries and the local Christians. There is much more to a LIFT team than just the practical work.
If you are a construction trades person or have practical gifts and want to use them to serve God, please do not hesitate to contact us. Every trade’s person needs a ‘work mate’ and we call these people ‘handy enthusiasts’. If you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal saviour, are aged between 18 and 80 and are in good health then you qualify. If you have ever thought about serving on an overseas works mission team, maybe God is calling you to ‘GO’ and serve Him.
