January 2024 Prayer Update
HAPPY NEW YEAR
We pray God’s blessings will be upon us as we prepare to host our 88th Convention in August. Remember to put the dates into your new diary or online calendar: Friday 16th to Sunday 25th August 2024.
COLIN SMITH
We are looking forward to welcoming Colin Smith, senior pastor of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, to lead our Bible Studies this summer.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Colin trained at the London School of Theology where he earned the degrees of Bachelor of Theology and Master of Philosophy. Before moving to the States in 1996, Colin served as senior pastor of the Enfield Evangelical Free Church in London.
Colin is the author of several books including Momentum: Pursuing God’s Blessings through the Beatitudes; Heaven, How I Got Here: The Story of the Thief on the Cross; Jonah: Navigating a God-Centered Life; The One Year Unlocking the Bible Devotional; 10 Keys for Unlocking the Bible; The 10 Greatest Struggles of Your Life; as well as others. His preaching ministry is shared around the world through Open the Bible.
Friend of Worldwide
We invite you to join us as we continue to promote and support world mission by becoming a Friend of Worldwide. You can contribute £5 or £10 per month, or more if you are able, to help support our running costs in organising the Convention every summer. As a friend, we will keep in touch and you will receive an invitation to special events and pre-booking with reserved seats for our opening night.
POINTS FOR PRAYER
FINANCE
At our December meeting, the committee received a report on the financial situation at the end of 2023 and, disappointingly, it showed a significant reduction in our income. While it is agreed that the previous year had been an exceptional one for the convention financially, because of the receipt of three legacies, even when these are excluded the income was lower in this past year. This is a matter of real concern for us as a principal reason for the existence of the convention is to raise money each year in support of missionary endeavours. Please pray as a matter of priority, for the committee as we try to discover if there are particular reasons for the drop and then seek to do what we can to improve the situation.
DECEMBER
COMMITTEE MEETING
Give thanks that we made significant progress in putting together our programme for 2024. There are many contacts now to be made to work out various details as well as giving thought to seminars etc. Please pray that we will be guided by God in all of this so that we can be sure that we have a convention which is fully in-line with His will.
LESLEY
STEWART
Lesley (our Secretary) is thankful for all those who have been praying for her. She is now able to "weight bear" and will be in a walking boot for the next 6 weeks to protect her ankle. This will help her to transition back to full mobility. Please continue to pray that her recovery will progress without any setbacks.
