March 2023 Prayer Update
Welcome to our latest update on the work and witness of Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention.
BIBLE TEACHER
We are delighted to welcome Chris Wright to Bangor to lead our weekday Bible Teaching in August. Belfast born, Chris was ordained in the Anglican Church of England in 1977. In 1983, he took his family to India and taught at the Union Biblical Seminary (UBS) for five years as a mission partner with Crosslinks. While at UBS, he taught a variety of Old Testament courses at BD and MTh levels. In 1988, he returned to the UK as Academic Dean at All Nations Christian College and in September 2001 he was appointed International Director of the Langham Partnership International. Chris, has a passion to bring to life the relevance of the OT to Christian mission and ethics, and loves preaching and teaching the Bible.
FAITH MISSION GOSPEL TRUCK
We have an exciting new partnership with Faith Mission this summer in the form of a 40ft articulated lorry! In April 2021, Faith Mission launched a Gospel Truck to promote the gospel in a variety of settings from open air outreach to a friendly cafe space and bookstall. So far, it has been used at youth and children’s events, country fairs and festivals and will make its way to Bangor’s seafront during Convention week to host children’s ministry.
POINTS FOR PRAYER
SUPPORTER
CHURCH LUNCH
Thank you for praying for this new initiative which brought together existing and potential Supporter Churches of Bangor Worldwide. Around a dozen local churches were represented which was a real encouragement to the organisers. Please pray that we will see some more of these churches signing up as Supporters and that the partnership will be mutually beneficial.
YOUNG ADULTS
MEETING
Give thanks that we had another well-attended meeting in February of this crucial group. Numbers attending have been steady in the 40 to 50 range and we ask for prayer for the meeting in March (Sunday 26th) which will be the last before the Easter break. It is hoped to resume them in May. Pray also that lives will be changed as a result of these times together and the messages brought by the various speakers.
LIVESTREAMING
CONVENTION MEETING
The committee would like to extend the reach of the Convention by encouraging more distant churches to think about taking a "livestream" of some of the meetings.. Contact is being made with churches across the Province and in the Republic, to see if they would be interested. Please pray that we will see a take-up of the offer and that people across the island will be able to benefit from the Convention even though they will not be physically present in Bangor.
