NOVEMBER 2020The clocks have changed so we have officially entered the winter season. Our work at Worldwide continues looking ahead to next summer and we use our monthly mailer to keep you updated on our latest plans and latest mission news
BECOME A FRIEND
OF WORLWIDEWould you prayerfully consider becoming a 'Friend of Worldwide' and contribute monthly to support the Convention?Running costs can exceed £30,000 each year and this does not include gifts which are allocated for and go direct to missions and missionaries. Contributing £5, £10, £25 or more monthly would enable this ministry to continue. Should we find ourselves in the position of having all costs covered, excess gifts will go to missionaries/mission agencies.
MERCY SHIPSMercy Ships have announced their brand new ship, the Global Mercy - the world’s largest purpose-built hospital ship.
When Don and Deyon Stephens left everything to follow Jesus in 1978, they imagined a fleet of hospital ships crewed by professionals from every nation - all volunteering to sail to the planet’s neediest ports to serve the forgotten poor. The Global Mercy, longer than one and a half professional football pitches, will set sail to West Africa in late 2021
CWI rebrandsCWI has changed it’s name to International Mission to Jewish people. The decision was based on research and a general assumption many people made that CWI meant a focus on politics or land issues in the Middle East when in fact, as an evangelistic mission, they are solely focused on telling Jewish people about Jesus, wherever they may be. Following much prayer, reflection and research the mission agency will enter 2021 with this new name and identity
As mentioned in our last update, 2021 brings us to a significant milestone in the life of the convention – our 85th anniversary. We are planning for a larger than usual event on our opening night at Assembly Buildings in Belfast and will have a focus on the Persecuted Church. Lorraine is taking the lead in these preparations and has already had a meeting involving a range of interested parties which was very encouraging. Please pray for her and the others involved as they develop their ideas for the event – that they will be guided by God and produce a programme which will be inspiring for all
This has been a difficult year for us (along with many others) from a financial perspective. Please pray for our treasurers as they finalise the end of year accounts and for wisdom for the committee when decisions on finance have to be made
Please pray for a meeting to be held towards the end of the month to discuss how we might improve our engagement with mission agencies and also how we might make the Global Village even more effective in connecting with visitors to the convention. There will be representatives from MWF and MAP present so pray that all will be inspired by God in making their contributions and that the outcome would be for His glory alone
Give thanks for the faithfulness of our Monday morning group which although it can’t meet physically, continues to support the committee by committing to pray each week in their own homes. Pray too that they will soon be able to get together again and sustain a tradition which has been running for eighty four years. Give thanks for the wider team (yourselves!) which prayerfully supports our ministry by following our monthly updates. Pray that this team will grow so that all that we do will be saturated in prayer.
