November 2023 Prayer Update
MIDDLE EAST
We cannot escape the news from the Middle East that shows the devastation and brutality of war in a region which has been an area of tension and discord for decades. We call for the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ, to intervene by his Sovereign grace and mercy. Pray for an end to the conflict and the safe release and return of hostages. Pray for humanitarian aid to reach the displaced and most vulnerable. May the grieving and heart-broken know God’s comfort.
MAUD KELLS - HERO OF THE FAITH
The committee of Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention was saddened to hear of the homecalling of our dear friend, Maud Kells, on Thursday 26th October 2023. Maud dedicated her life to missionary service in the Congo.
A regular visitor to Bangor Worldwide, Maud last spoke there in 2015 to a packed church on the Sunday evening. The presence of this missionary stateswoman was always an inspiration to all who had the privilege to meet her on such occasions.
We were delighted last year when she agreed to an extended interview on camera with Etta Halliday, reflecting on her life. The video - released in November 2022 - is a lovely tribute to a great hero of the faith from Northern Ireland. Our prayer is that all who view it will be challenged and inspired by seeing what God was able to do through one life given wholly to Him. As Maud always said, "To Him be the Glory".
POINTS FOR PRAYER
COMMITTEE
MEETING
We had a very productive meeting in October with a number of decisions made regarding our programme for next year's convention. Thank you for praying. Contact will now be made with possible speakers so please continue to pray for smooth communication.
YOUNG ADULTS
PROGRAMME
Please pray for plans being made to follow-up on the progress being made in connecting with this key group during the winter months. Continue to pray also for someone to lead the work in this area as a replacement for Jason.
PUBLICITY
We recently agreed to a request from National Religious Broadcasters (USA and Canada) for permission to use the videos of our morning Bible Studies, stretching back 10 years, on their network. Please pray that these will be helpful to those who use them and also give Bangor Worldwide a higher profile in that part of the world.
NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS
We were delighted to hear that Billy and Tracey McMaster had accepted our invitation to join the committee. We are sure they will make a significant contribution to our work so please pray for them as they explore how best they might do this.
