This Week

The Worldwide Prayer meeting continues each Monday morning throughout the year.We start at 11.00 in the Congregational Church on Central Avenue ( entry by side door ). Missionary speakers attend on a regular basis bringing updates on their situations and the meeting concludes at noon. It is open to all and everyone will be made welcome....

This month we will be sending out a letter to the Mission Agencies with which we have contact (over 70 in all).The purpose of this is to explore ways in which we might better support the work of these bodies throughout the year. Please pray that this will be the beginning of a fruitful dialogue which will produce results and be an encouragement to all concerned....

Pray also for the marketing plan being produced for the group of Christian Conventions in N Ireland of which we are a part.This, currently, is being finalised and our prayer is that it will be used by our government and its agencies to promote the conventions across the UK, the RoI and beyond....

The situation in the Middle East whether in relation to events in Egypt, Syria, or elsewhere is rarely far from our news bulletins.The instability in the region is causing increasing difficulties for the Christians living there and yet we hear of church growth in strongly Muslim countries.This year at the Convention we have a unique opportunity to gain insight into the background of what is really going on when our seminar on Monday afternoon looks at the subject of the Future of the Church in ...

Give thanks that we have finalised our speaker for the Bible Readings for 2013.Bishop Ken Clarke, who was already coming to the Convention speak on his work for SAMS has kindly agreed to rearrange his schedule to accommodate us. We are delighted with this outcome as Ken took the readings several years ago and was very well received....

Continue to pray for the committee as we finalise the main plans for 2014 and also give thought to 2015 and 2016.Our desire is to return in one of these years to the Waterfront Hall after the success of out visit there in 2011 so please pray that we guided to right speakers for such an event....

In the next few months the Convention will be advertised in a number of UK Christian periodicals and publications.Please pray that this will be an effective way of making the event known to a wider audience....

Please pray for ongoing discussions with youth pastors as we seek to finalise a couple of new initiatives for young people as part of our 2013 programme.We are keen to make the next generation aware of the Convention and to get them involved from an early age....

Ajith Fernando, who took our Bible Readings several years ago has written asking for prayer for the church in his native Sri Lanka.He writes,The situation faced by churches doing evangelism remains very serious. The churches of many of the people I have been ministering to recently are meeting in homes in groups of two or three families rather than in a church service. Attacks continue. Pray that the believers would stand firm and grow and that God would deepen the church through this experience...

Next week, we have our final committee meeting before our 2013 Convention.Pray for us as we meet on the 12th of this month to finalise details for this years Convention and make initial preparations for next year....
